On May 12, 2026, the exhibition LIVING WITH WOOD: From forest to home. Wood as a mirror of development and quality of life, prepared by SLOWOODLIFE, was opened at the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The exhibition opening program included speeches by representatives of key institutions and partners, a presentation of the initiative and manifesto for the International Day of Living with Wood, a presentation of boutique wood destinations from the Wood We Go® campaign, and wooden products from selected woodworking schools.

The event also symbolically connected two important milestones: the 175th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and 15 years since the publication of the first Slovenian magazine entirely dedicated to living with wood – Varčna hiša, which is now published under the name LIVING WITH WOOD.

In doing so, it opened up space for reflection on wood as an important developmental foundation for modern living, architecture, the economy, and Slovenian space, and connected the profession, academic institutions, politics, and the economy on a common platform.

The signing of the manifesto, which took place on this occasion, represents an important founding step for the initiative, as it provides it with professional, institutional, educational and economic support and paves the way for the establishment of November 7 as the International Day of Living with Wood.

The manifesto was also joined by the Association of the Wood and Furniture Industry, for which Bernard Likar signed it by proxy.
