Second business delegation of wood and furniture companies in Egypt
20. Nov. 2023 @ 08:00 – 23. Nov. 2023 @ 17:00

Between 20th and 23rd November 2023, there was a business delegation of wood and furniture companies in Cairo, Egypt. This is the second such delegation in this promising market.
The delegations attended the company; MBS list d.o.o., Marušič d.o.o., Enter Life d.o.o., Donar d.o.o., Montpreis d.o.o. and wood cluster. Businesses are providers of sawn wood and profiled wood of conifers and deciduous trees and interior designs, most with experience in exporting to foreign markets, some also in Egypt. You can find a delegation presentation brochure HERE.
We performed the delegation together with HABIC – Equipment, Furniture and Design Cluster in the Basque Country from Spain and Transylvanian Furniture Cluster from Romania, as part of the international project “Furniture Go International“. On the first day of the delegation, we had a central business B2B Matchmaking event with Egyptian companies organized by the consulting company. The event was opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Cairo, Mr. Podlesnik and economic advisor at the Embassy of Spain. This was followed by a lecture by Egyptian architectin and expert for sustainability followed by business meetings.

On the second day, we attended a joint meeting of all three delegations with representatives of Egyptian organizations in the field of timber and furniture industry at the Embassy of Spain. The purpose of the meeting was to get to know the current economic situation in Egypt, the state and interests of their timber and furniture industry, and information about business opportunities. We also connected long -term links to Egyptian organizations. The day was completed by the Slovenian delegation with a business lunch with Egyptian importers of timber in the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Cairo Mr. Podlesnik.

We concluded the delegation by learning about Cairo and his sights.

We can conclude that the business delegation was very successful and helped to strengthen exports to this market. The potential for exporting wood and furniture to Egypt is great, as well as opportunities for cooperation. Egypt is also a very good starting point for trading Gulf and African countries.
The event was organized by the public agency Spirit Slovenia with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport, and was coordinated by the woodworking cluster in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Cairo.
