Slovenia is the third most wooded country in Europe, after Finland and Sweden, with an annual wood increment of more than 9 million m³. Therefore, the Slovenian wood-processing industry is the only Slovenian industry, which uses local abundant, high-quality renewable natural resources.

The examples of good practice show, that 1 m³ of wood in a properly regulated chain, reaches a hundred times higher market value, or even higher in case the wood is used for high-tech products, on its way from the forest to the final wood product or building. In the well-structured wood sectors of developed economies, every 100 m3 of processed wood offers a new job.
