A joint transnational meeting of the DRWO4.0 project was held in Plitvice Lakes National Park and Ogulin on 29-30 September 2025 to review the results of pilot environments for the transformation of the wood industry towards Industry 4.0. The event brought together partners from the Danube Region to discuss the digital and sustainable transformation of the sector and the role of pilot environments as catalysts for change. On the first day, participants also visited the Plitvice Lakes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which served as a practical example of sustainable natural resource management and environmentally friendly tourism.

The second day of the program continued in Ogulin, where Bjelin Croatia hosted the opening transnational workshop of the project. Participants learned about the key elements of the emerging model of transformation of the wood industry, exchanged best practices and included national perspectives in the joint discussion. The workshop was designed as an interactive work that brought together experts from different countries of the Danube region. The program included a presentation of Bjelin Ogulin as an example of good practice in the field of Industry 4.0 and a tour of their production facilities, where participants learned about concrete solutions for digitalization and lean production.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Wood Cluster and Slovenian stakeholders. Their presence contributed to the active exchange of experiences and strengthening of cross-border cooperation, which is key to the successful transformation of the wood industry in the region. The meeting ended with a discussion, networking which further encouraged the formation of new partnerships and development initiatives. The event reaffirmed the importance of connecting knowledge and cooperation, which will enable a more competitive, digitally supported and sustainably oriented future of the wood industry in the Danube Region.
