On March 25, 2026, the Wood Cluster, together with SPIRIT Slovenia, visited proHolz Steiermark in Graz, Austria.

The working visit brought an exchange of experiences and ideas on the promotion of wood in Slovenia and Styria. The visit was attended by representatives of SPIRIT Slovenia, a public agency that leads promotional activities for increased wood use in Slovenia at the national level, the Timber Cluster, which actively supports such activities, and proHolz Steiermark, which promotes wood in Styria, Austria.

Together, we explored how to communicate topics related to wood and forests more effectively with the general public – from raising awareness about sustainable forest management to highlighting the benefits of building with wood. The key focus was on making complex content accessible, attractive and relevant for different target groups. We also shared insights into the educational initiative “Holz macht Schule”, which, with specially developed teaching materials and tools, helps to introduce forest and wood topics into classrooms in a clear, interactive and effective way.

Strong partnerships like this are essential to forge a common voice for wood in Europe – and to inspire the next generation.
