Between 13th and 16th of December 2022, a business delegation of Slovenian wood and furniture companies was in Cairo, Egypt. It is the first such delegation to this prospective market.

The delegation attended the companies; ERGO VITAE d.o.o., GONZAGA-Pro d.o.o., SNEŽNIK d.o.o., BELES d.o.d., MONTPREIS d.o.o., LESKOM-OD d.o.o. and the Wood Industry Cluster. They are providers of interior equipment, sawn wood and glued wood panels, most of them with experience in exporting to the foreign markets, also in Egypt. First day we visited the New Administrative Capital which growing up next to Cairo and had a meeting with engineering companies. Next day we visited the international Cairo Wood Show where we had business meetings with Egyptian companies and associations. We learned a lot about situation and opportunities on this promising market and establish a lot of business contacts. At the end of the delegation, we were guests of Mr. Podlesnik, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Cairo.

On delegation we also joined forces with partners on Furniture Go International project, which connects cluster organisations and their respective member companies from Sweden, Spain, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovenia.

We can conclude that the delegation has been very successful, both in business terms and about informing about opportunities in Egypt. The potential for exporting wood and furniture to Egypt is great, as well as the possibility of cooperation, so we will continue with activities in this market next year.
