On 7 and 8 September 2021, a two-day business delegation of Slovenian furniture companies was successfully carried out at the Salone del Mobile – Supersalone 2021 fair. The delegation was jointly organized by the SPIRIT Slovenia Public Agency, Directorate for Wood Industry at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia – Association of the Wood and Furniture Industry and the Wood Industry Cluster with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Milan.

The participants of the delegation visited the Salone Del Mobile – Supersalone fair, which took place this year in the form of a curated exhibition of novelties in the field of furniture and the exhibition of the Center for Creativity and the Museum of Architecture and Design of Slovenia. In addition, members of the delegation had organized B2B business meetings with Italian agents, companies, designers and architects. The delegation consisted of Gonzaga-Pro d.o.o., Donar d.o.o., Klun Ambienti d.o.o., C.E.T.A. d.o.o., Joinery Florjančič d.o.o., Turk M&Z d.o.o. and the Wood Industry Cluster.

We can summarize that the delegation was very successful, as the participants established several new and consolidated existing business contacts, and the Supersalone fair and exhibition in Superstudio Più gave the participants a very good insight into the trends in furniture development. The opinion of the participants in the delegation was that it was necessary to continue with such delegations, as the Italian market is very important.

“This is the first live delegation of woodworkers since the winter of 2019, when the outbreak of COVID-19 began, which fills us with hope for further normalization of such support in foreign markets. At a time of aggravated conditions due to the pandemic, we managed to provide support to timber companies in foreign markets to the planned extent through on-line platforms for b2b, thus helping companies in the most difficult times. Our expectations in the Italian market, which is the second largest export market for furniture after Germany, was mainly new business connections with design and architectural offices and agents. In the plan in the coming months, we also have in our plan delegations to the NeoCon Chicago fairs in the USA, MADE EXPO Milan and the world exhibition EXPO Dubai, “said Bernard Likar from the Wood Cluster.
